The History of Chi Xi Zeta Chapter, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

In the spring of 2009 a group of five women began to discuss possibilities of taking Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. to the Johnston County community. This area, specifically Clayton, had no Zeta presence, and the women believed that Zeta had something to offer the community. Their hope was to bring back into focus the true purpose of Zeta, its Founding Principles: Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love and Finer Womanhood. The group of five quickly grew to twelve as more sorority members with similar mindsets wished to join in this momentous effort.

On June 7, 2009 the fruits of their labor were realized and Chi Xi Zeta Chapter was founded. The chartering ceremony was held at the historic Women’s Club of Clayton.

Chi Xi Zeta Chapter has built its presence in the Clayton community. The chapter has partnered with Harbor, Inc., and volunteers and supports the efforts of this organization to provide assistance to individuals dealing with domestic violence.  In addition, the chapter sponsors three youth groups for girls aged 3 – 18. The Pearlettes, Amicettes, and Archonettes meet monthly and participate in educational and community service activities. Chi Xi Zeta Chapter participates in the annual Clayton Harvest Festival, hosts a Finer Womanhood program and holds a number of fundraising activities.

If you are seeking a chapter where you can share ideas and be an active part of building a legacy, then Chi Xi Zeta Chapter is for you.
